19s Travel to Fife Again
Ayr 19s headed back to Dunfermline for the second time in 4 days after playing as the reserves in the league cup semi defeat on Wednesday.
The lads seemed to have learned plenty from that experience and were fired up right from the start of this encounter, and soon dominated the early stages playing some neat attractive football against a very strong wind.
They came close on a few occasions in the first half through Paterson and Moore, but couldnt break the deadlock with the half-time score ending 0-0.
The second half was more competitive with Dunfermlime stifling the Ayr lads not giving them time to play their passing game, and the hosts came close to a breakthrough only for keeper Jones to save excellently.
Ayr started to dominate again, and it was no surprise that they took the lead on 75 minutes, when Thompson cooly back heeled into the net from close range after a Moore strike landed at his feet.
The second came when Milligan followed in a Moore shot and smashed in at the back post. The excellent Moore completed the scoring when he linked with McClelland and smashed in an unstoppable drive from 25 yards right into the top corner to give him a well deserved goal.
Manager Stephen McMillan commented after the match "This was a very good all round team performance and the quality at times was very good. I can have no complaints and all the players contributed. The lads have set the benchmark high, and will need to work extremely hard to keep at this level but we believe in them and they now have standards to keep up which only bodes well for the rest of this season."
