Another busy week for the Ayr United Football Academy as their matches kicked off this week on Thursday evening with a friendly against the Jimmy Johnstone Academy for a 16/17 mix which ended with a 3 nil victory for the AUFA side.

Friday night saw a third visit to Murray Park in two weeks for an AUFA side as the 19s visited their Rangers full time, performance level counterparts. In a tight affair that was evenly balanced throughout, it took 2 clinical finishes from the home side to end victorious against a very good Ayr U19 team.

Rangers had ex Academy player, Kyle McAusland in their ranks, meanwhile Ayr gave 15 year old, under 16 player, Mark Shankland a run out against his older peers. Ayr had enough chances to win the match and on another day they could have but the game ended with only the two first half goals for the home side.

Sunday saw the 19s travel to to Brechin to dominate a match that ended 2-0 in favour of the AUFA lads. Goals from Paterson and Moore finished this game off as a contest with coach Stephen McMillan saying at the end, "Lots of positives can be taken from the past two games, our possession play has been excellent, we have created plenty of chances and also defensively we have been tight. Best way to describe these performances was very professional."

The 17s headed to Broadwood for a difficult tie against Clyde but ran out eventual 2-1 winners with goals from Dean Marshall and Tyler Campbell. In a match that saw two two shots hit the crossbar, a red card for Clyde and some inspirational goalkeeping, it was never a boring affair and coach Allan Paul was happy to walk away with the three points and his teams 100% league record intact.

Sunday also saw Ayr's 16s and 14s both playing at home with the 16s kicking off at 12.45 against St Johnstone losing two frustratingly defensive error ridden goals.

The 14s however fired in four against visiting Queen of the South, dominating the match from start to finish. Sean McKenzie grabbed a double in this match with other exceptional performances coming from Roy Barr, Donnie Campbell and Ayr's trialist goalkeeper, who didn't have a lot to do but when called upon, managed admirably.
