ayr 16s v Saints

16's Edged Out By Saints

Ayr fought out a closely fought game against their Perth counterparts on the 20th, with plenty of goals to talk about.

The first half was close and indeed a scrappy affair, with both teams competing very well, but with not much football being played .

The game however burst into life after 30 minutes with five goals being scored before the end. First up were St Johnstone to take the lead only for Ayr to equalise through Sean Robertson.

The second half was again being played at a frantic pace, and like the first 45 minutes of play, the goals came near the end.

St Johnstone for the second time took the lead but Mark Shankland pulled Ayr back into the game once again.

St Johnstone however finished off the scoring when a quickly taken free kick was finished by their number seven to end the game in the visitors favour.

Coach Davie White said “ Our attacking play and quality at times was very good, but our desire to defend as individuals and a team must improve in the future games”.
